![]() Theory 7: Thunderpedes do not mind wet environments. If they reduce an entire (albeit small) landmass to a bunch of even smaller landmasses and they are constantly punching the earth and trampling the soil to build their nests, many plants are going to have a hard time growing in such an environment. ![]() And it's probably also safe to say that they are quite disruptive, even outright destructive, to vegetation. So I think it's safe to say that Thunderpedes live in rocky environments. They are also said to be found on Dark Deep, and their rock-punching abilities are said to have reduced the main location they can be found, the Little Isles, is said to have been created thanks to the Thunderpedes, having once been one landmass. Thunderpedes are said to build their nests out of rocks and even have rock gardens. Theory 6: Thunderpedes like rocky environments and are disruptive to vegetative communities. On top of that, Thunderpedes may very well crouch over their nests of eggs, and a soft belly may keep the Thunderpede from accidentally breaking them. If touching a huge part of social interaction for them, it may help have a pleasant surface to touch for such social occasions. But that leaves us to wonder.where does the foam come from? Well, I think the most likely explanation is that it comes from the Thunderpede's own spit! But why would it generate this foam to soften their bellies? Well, since Thunderpedes are upright with an exposed belly, this may be so they can interact with other Thunderpedes with the soft part of their bodies toward them so they can do things like hug. In Fishlegs' Dark Deep quest in Dragons: Rise of Berk, we learn that Thunderpedes have very soft bellies because they sleep on a foam-like substance. This softens their bellies, which is not only helpful for social situations but also possibly for egg sitting. Theory 5: The Thunderpede's foam comes from its own mouth.
